Today, the world feels very small to me. Like I could hold it in my hand. It just seems funny that it is still as big as it is. And that it takes as long as it does to get from one place to another. In the mornings I work with teachers who are in Poland, but [...] If your are in the mood to learn, even just a little bit, travel is a fabulous classroom and teacher. I am always touting the value of reading guidebooks–cover to cover if you can. It’s so much fun to see what other opportunities there are in the city or country you are visiting, even if you [...] My current quest is intriguing to me. (Or I suppose I wouldn’t bother with it.) It is designed to open me up to a new culture and new people. To get me traveling and exploring in a new way. But the first several steps of the adventure are right here at home–at my desk, listening to [...] People often stop me to ask for directions. Even when I’m far from home. Or even when that person has to walk around several people to get to me.
The thing is, I often know the answer, even in a place I’ve never been before. It’s just one of those things–I was born with [...] Many of us have a love-hate relationship with the holiday season. We love the good stuff, but can easily become overwhelmed with expectations, invitations, and cogitations. Here’s a drop of virtual peregrination and a dose of exultation at the wonders of the planet of our inhabitation. Where in the World? Enjoy… Holiday, vacation, break, respite, furlough, leave, sabbatical, trip, tour, journey, voyage, getaway, sojourn. Yup. It’s true. Whatever way you say it, it’s awesome! I have stayed at environmentally conscious hotels and worked with providers who weren’t the worst non-eco folks out there. To get my start on out eco-ing the eco set (not that it’s a competition), I think I’d like to [...] What is that makes one person crave adventure in the form of things like parachuting, street luge, and heli-skiing?
And another person crave adventure in the form of traveling to new lands, trying exotic foods, or learning a new language? And still another person crave nothing that seems like adventure from most angles the rest [...] How do you find the next adventure in your life?
Do you have a life list you add to and draw from when inspiration hits? Do you just grab an idea when it hits, pack your bag, and run out the door? Do you prefer your adventures smaller and closer to home–not the traveling [...] I’m curious…how do you find your next travel adventure? Travel magazines? Travel websites? Non-travel media? Social media or email? Think it up out of thin air? Mine are usually prompted by something I’ve read in a magazine–travel or otherwise. Even the ads get me sometimes. But I’m always on the lookout for new ways to find ideas. [...] |
